We offer youngsters healthy play, creative and instructive learning activities which will enhance your child’s imagination, physical well being, and learning skills. Circle time and story telling will develop listening and language skills. Counting games and rhythmic activities will provide a foundation for mathematics. We have a very caring, loving, experienced and devoted staff. We follow School District 6 school/no school schedule.
YMCA After School Club provides a safe, secure, and nurturing environment for children during the after school hours. Homework help and a rich variety of activities for the children are provided by our caring staff. Studies show that children who attend quality after school programs do better in math, language and social studies. DASC gives children the opportunity to explore and deepen individual interests in art, music, science, language, cooking and much more.
DASC is in operation on the days that school is in session from the last school bell until 5:30 pm. Enrollment is limited to facility availability. DASC is available due in part to the generosity of School District #6 by providing space in Jewett Elementary, Central Point Elementary and Mae Richardson Elementary schools.
Arts and Science camp will be held August 9-13, 2010 and is a 5 day, 4 night camp for students in grades 4 – 9. The camp is located at Camp Latgawa, just outside of Lake Creek. Students get to learn about their environment, investigate life cycles of animals and insects and the impacts to the nearby streams. Providing a neutral ground for these students opens up new opportunities that helps build confidence in themselves while fostering an appreciation for their natural environment and art. Students learn about the natural environment through hands-on, interpretive outdoor activities. Students are encouraged to try new things.
The Central Point Parks and Recreation Foundation provides financial assistance in the form of scholarships to children in the following programs.
